I am looking for some guidelines as to what might be a fair and competitive billing rate (per hour) for a self-employed engineering /technical consultant (non-IT). There would be no employees and it would be home-based. Thanks.

Usually u should look for 20-30% more than what u would make in a full time hr rate for the position.

Thank you. I was looking for any websites that might show the going rates. I found one that showed rates between $65 to $140. Clearly, there is a range. That's whay I was looking to see if anyone can speak from, maybe, personal experience.
