My phone (Seimens) got from Dubai, is working with Rogers Pay-as you go. Had paid initially an activation fee of 50/- when purchasing the SIM card.
Need to correct that : Pay as you go neednot be prepaid - it can be monthly billing. However for a new immigrant, to give you monthly billing SIM and connection you might have to make a deposit (usually $200.00) for 6 months.
Monthly billing is a good option when you dont have to sign a fixed term contract of 2-3 years...

We are just back from Toronto after our first landing. We took a roaming GSM from here, it worked in UK but unfortunately not in Toronto. Checked with Rogers and they told us that we should bring the triband frequency mobile.
