Why one should be obsessed with "records" and more so with TN and South.
In TN and South, we understand cricket as a team game. A 50 or a 60, may be even a 20 or 30 at the right moment can win or draw a test match for the side.
A few years back VVS and Ishant Sharma took the score from 124 for 8 to 205 for 9, and the team won the match against Aussies at 216 for 9.
VVS was 73 not out and I.Sharma scored 31.
VVS'73, Sharma's 31 and their 81 run partnership at the right moment in winning just one match for the side is greater than all the runs scored by Tendulkar.
Like his followers may be Tendulkar also thinks differently. Otherwise he would not have let the team lose all the 4 test in England and another all 4 tests in Australia. When the top batsmen in the opp. side were scoring double and even triple centuries, Sachin score were just to satisfy his "records", followers and his place in the team forever.

Yeah you got to ask that question to yourself.
And just for your records, and I am sure others like San Hugo and Puttoo would agree to this..it is not really about Sachin..we are happy that an a cricketer from India has created records that makes India and all the cricket lovers proud. I know that if S Ramesh or W raman or Hirwani, would have been at that place, we would be jubilant as well.
As I said in one of my posts the only other person who matches in terms of records and awards in sports/game is Vishwanathan Anand. And I am equally proud that he is from India. ok from Tamilnadu India. But he is such a hero that makes all Indians proud.
In test matches, good bowling & catching can assure victory and good batting can assure draw.
t20 is all about good & innovative batting. team can afford to see-off 4 overs of top opp bowler
odi is more of a bowling & fielding game. single batsman sometimes can still win a game for team
odi is the reason of popularity of SRT. it may not be easier but doable to put rest 10 out of equation.
Winning the game for the side is more important than scoring a century or record.
This your hero himself had mentioned, during match-end interviews, though he really believed in it is doubtful.

You cannot create the records if you are not trying to win the game for your team. If the rest 10 consistently fails to support the individual performance, then it is team's fault not the individual players fault..and there are several reasons for win/loss of games to get an idea you can watch movies like Jannat, 99 etc..You like to see the records of players from all over the world but not the one from your own country...oops..yeah he is not from your state..
