Very true. Our friends in NY have three cars - Merc SUV, Cadillac and a Ford SUV. Two drivers. The total yearly insurance cost? $4500.

My old Nissan in Canada ? One driver - $2150!!!!

They were surprised to hear this from us.

Insurance in North America is the biggest money making scam.

Speak for Canada, it's actually much better in the States.

Used to pay $70 a month for two luxury cars, two drivers, full coverage in the States.

Paying $350 a month for similar cars, full coverage, two drivers here in bloody Canuckistaan.

This is after more than 10 years of experience, the stupid "G License" for both drivers and no accidents or tickets on record ever.

and I've been told that I actually have a "much better deal than most folks"

Bloody unbelivable!!

Everything is expensive in Canada. Worst thing no one says anything here.

What is the way to protest about anything in Canada - Drink Beer.

I had received a $40 ticket for driving 70 in 60 zone. Since the cop told there will not be any points I just paid off the ticket to save hassles related to court and the overall time.
Will this cause increase in my insurance premium?
Also why is it always recommended to take a million dollar policy?
Any opinion is appreciated.

thanks
Vipeen

The cop ALWAYS will say that you have no points lost but actually you need to check...for which charge how many points are listed.

Thanks for the responses.
Does anyone know if there have been attempts to do anything about auto insurances? The rates are high and rate touches skies for any minor accident/tickets. Forget about comparing with US, it smells like a money minting scam by 4-5 umbrella organizations.

Even that is cheaper south of the border (and a lot more easily available. I can walk into pretty much any gas station and buy beer, as opposed to hunting for an LCBO or a Beer store here).

The "Permit Raj" is not exclusive to India. Canuckistan is equally bad.

Don't forget the ridiculous gas prices on top of that. Was there last weekend and paid $1.26 for a liter. In OH its like $3.69 a gallon which comes out to be a little less than a dollar a liter after all the conversions.

And the list goes on...... :)

Seems like yesterday, I used to fill gas in the US for 69c. a gallon.
That's right - 69 cents.
Before the war started.
meh, I try not to look at the meter running when I am filling the car.
