Hi,
While applying for SINP, I as my wife's spouse, would be required to fill a form that says What did you do in the last 10 years ? Give details and dates with no gaps. Unable to provide details about a certain period (be it working or not working)would lead to delay in SINP.
My question to you all is - Is it considered negative for SINP/PR if there are gaps during my employment? Or they would be neutral about it ? And how would they verify all the companies that I have worked for till date ? What should I write where there are gaps - taking care of the family/searching for a job etc ?
Pls answer !
Thank you.
Good question !
If you had really been unemployed or on an sabbatical, be truthful about it. In North America, these gaps are considered normal. But it should be believable. You canot say that you were unemployed for 9 years out of 10 years (but as a spouse of a SNIP applicant, it may not matter).
Next is that they seldom verify each and employer listed but then will google around if your company is reputed/ existing or not and on their whim call just one company. So it is a must that atleast some of your recent employers should be informed about a potential call. Generally for SNIP, they may not call your employer but it is better to be safe than sorry.
If they have not asked for any contact number, then they are not likely to verify your employment at all.
FYI: in my immigration application, I had listed about 5 or 6 employers (no phone number was needed those days). I had a bad relationship with all the 5 or 6 employers and I had overstated my employment with them , not to account for any gaps in employment. However I got the immigration without a snag.
All the best
Peace

T H A N K you !
Congratulations on moving to the next step..... Wish you success in your Application....
As always, I will have only one advise.....Be truthful.... If nothing, then there is always the satisfaction that you did the right thing....
If there are short gaps, then it should be perfectly fine.... You may give reasons such as looking after family member, travel, studies etc.....
I strongly advise you to be truthful wrt your employment/education history......They do check back..... I work in HR and we check the employment history for each and every employer prior hiring.....They did an employer check for my husband too for our PR application.....They usually call/email..... Don't know if the same applies for spouse of principal applicant.....They did not check on my details to be honest.....
The only thing allowable is the time frame...... A few months +/- in your employment duration should be ok (if at all required to be cooked).....However, misinformation has the potential to become a big problem and can come back to keep haunting you..... You will always have that fear.....Since, you will have to go through background checks for all your jobs in future....
All the best.
Just and advice: I would say don't leave gaps at all. Even in those gaps you were doing something? Don't ya?
If you were unemployed, say unemployed. If you resigned from your work for vacation say leisure activity - vacation (i know some people do this even it is strange). But make sure you have no gaps, this is what they want - all details of yours for their record and/or to verify as well.
Good Luck!!
