Truro is close to the junction of HWY 105-104 out of SYDNEY.N.S.

and 102 out of Halifax. It is a very busy intersection and it has

constant traffic through its perphery and it is a pit stop for the

north and south bound truckers and buses into N.S.

The population is about 13,000 people and there is a small cross

section of local Indians of the MikMaq Origin. They have a lot

more rights than any body I know. Give or take, there are 200-

250 Asians and I can vouch, out of that, 100 are the type you are

looking for. It is not that bad, and in a surrounding area of FIFTY

mile radius, the population totals to about 44,000 people.

If you are not a pub crawler you are very safe. So, keep your

movements limited to the day light hours.

It is a very close knit society there and even then NOTHING

flourishes there in that neck of the woods.

There is a beautiful Park very close by called Victoria Park.

Also there is a small town called Windsor there too, and a

tidal port at Hantsport, where you see a few ships carrying

raw materials for GYPSUM.

Life in those areas are very rustic and most of the people are

very amiable and who knows you may fall in love with it.

@FH

Thanks, for the quick response. I have few more queries:

Is there transit service within Truro? Is it safe to use bike in the day? Are there community parks for children to play?

What is 'on' in NOVEMBER in TRURU. N.S. : http://www.truro.ca/month/

It is interactive: A MAP : http://www.gosur.com/en/canada/nova-scotia/truro-map/?gclid=CIfo9sPuuLMCFUZgMgodJHQAtg

LOOK FOR "SOBEYS" for Grocery Stores. When you first see the sign you start to wonder MMmmm... how can one call themselves "Sons Of Bi...." and stick a very bold and BIG sign on their door?? !! Well, each country comes with their own laughs. You can have yours before you enter the store. Be careful... they are the biggest gougers there. Also they got their humble beginings too, in there. Now they are all over Canada.

Starting in November upto until the next May, it will be a snow belt, so bikes are hard to navigate. So, get used to the mile long walks or pay a big price or buy a monthly pass to get to work and back.

The kids will have a BALL in there. It will be a paradise for them. Also teach them to skate and later on to ski also. There is a theater there for the matinee shows for them, a nice outing even in the winters. (Surely you can also rent the movies too, they have good deals for renting them)

Edit Bus Services. There are a few local Shuttles there.

I visited Truro once on business and the locals looked at me as though I had three heads, so not many Indians there I guess.

@FH

Thanks for the wonderful and detailed information. :)

I have few more queries:

Whats with the discussion on floods they had in Sept'12, is the city prone to flooding?
Is the accommodation nearby nscc (I mean within 15-20 mins walk) suitable for family having two elementary school kids?
