i am an instrumentation engineer having a work experience of 13 years. i am married and have two kids. i want to give a try to immigrate to canada on PR visa. however, i have thought of trying it on my own instead of taking help of any professional consultant. already i have gone through some of the information given on the canadian websites for immigration. yet a bit confused where to start from.
initially i thought of trying through some consultant here in india. then i had a lot of negative remarks, comments and feedback about them. so i dropped the idea of taking their help.
now i would like to know if it is a good idea to start on my own? if so, i would like to have step by step guidance for this i.e. immigration on PR visa from all who are generous enough guide me.
if not, can anyone help me in finding a good consultant in india sothat i don't have to run from pillar to post later on.
can anyone tell me how much time does it take to process (till completion)the application for PR visa by canadian embassy in india and how much is the cost involvement if done independently?
i would gtreatful if anybody guides me step by step in my endeavour. further, this will help others who are contemplating of trying it out.

Yes it is possible to complete immigration process on ur own.
Its waste to go through Consultant. They cost u more without anything.
If I am not wrong One famous consultant ( I don't want to name in this forum....but everyone knows) is totally unprofessional, Hardly anyone is happy with there service.
So my suggestion go on ur own, not very difficult.
if u need more info, let me know

File by yourself. Refer to the website http://www.cic.gc.ca." rel="nofollow">LINK You will be able to get all info on it. Spend some time searching for information on it and you will be able to get all info. For any queries, post on http://www.canadiandesi.com" rel="nofollow">LINK & you will get help.

No need to spend more than one lac rupees for paying to consultant. All you will need is a computer, printer and ofcourse Adobe Acrobat (the free reader version will not allow you to save the file, i.e. you will have to type and print immediately). Get the Adobe Acrobat PRofessional version and get going.

Save the money for showing to the Canadian govt. and ofcourse once you reach Canada, you will need the money.

Best of luck!!

Rgds.

Rajan.

I did it all by myself at that time when the website wan't really helpful at all (circa 2000), got through it quite smoothly. You have an advantage of website now a days. Trust me, you do not need any consultant or agency at all.

As others pointed out rightly, do not waste your time, money, and energy by taking any unproductive advise from any agency. Read through the website for skilled immigration and you'll get 100% information there, with the complete application package.

If you ever need any further information, I am sure everyone on this site will be more than happy to assist you, including me.

I hope you all the very best for your endeavor.

Preet....

dear friends,

thanks to all of you for extending your valuable suggestions. i definitely would like to have more information and guidance at every step of this process.
i just want to know how much time normally it takes to grant PR visa to skilled independent category by the Canadian embassy in India if everything moves smoothly.

nick
