I am holding immigrant visa for canada and intend to move shortly. I had applied thru a consultant in India (a chandigarh based and so called best immigration consultant of Inida). My experience has not been really good. The only thing these consultants can do, is to fill up your form and submit it. Some of the consultants will make you sign an agreement to give their address for communication received from the Canadian High Commission. This way, they end up doing the job of a glorified post office between you and the High Commission (and in the bargain delaying your mail).

I suggest, that by going thru a consultant, you only waste your money. If you are capable of filling up your form yourself, it would do you a lot of good to apply directly. Check www.cic.gc.ca for further official details.

Bet of luck

Dear Ashok,

I have just joined this group...I would strongly advise you to persue your case yourself and you should not even think of getting it through any of the Immigration Consultants at least in India.

I have burnt my fingers by opting to go in for a Immigartion consultant and they simply tell you Goody Goody till the time they get their money...after wards..it becomes very difficult. You might realise that you may not be knowing all sorts of detailing to be filled in the form , giving / attaching the documents, which is just not difficult provided you understand the basic logic behind. Consultants will not do much except they will take all the details and fil it across for you and for which you will land up paying 60~70K Rs.

Later on, when you go to ask them about the details of your case...those guys will give you ridiculous answers. Go to www.cic.gc.ca and spend couple of days (2~3 days max.), go to all the links and equip yourself for the documentation.

I am telling you this because, I also did the same mistake and lost 60K Rs. finally, I was so disguted with the Consultant, that I withdrew after having paid all the money...Should you need you know more, Canadian Desi is the best Platform...I am really thankful to the group and people who started it and I also want to contribute my experience with other fellows....

Well, it has been over 2.5 years and I am still waiting to get my Medicals...Can any one help me as the last communication (Sep 03) they has asked for my Proof of Funds statement...I even submitted my IELTS with 7.5 Band (7/7/8/8) result....Please advise...

Don't lose heart. You are in the final stretch. Give it another couple of months. Most embassies are presently overwhelmed with processing ofTemp. travel docs.
