Wisenow,
I have no idea.It is located in southern africa, close to namibia and south africa. It is very famous for it's diamond trade, one of the few african countries who is doing really well. Heard that it has a big indian community.
From a personal prospective, it is really good money for me, with good saving potential. My plans are to stick around for 5-6 years, make good money and think of future after that. I am going to join a big 4 accounting firm over there, and hopefully, with my canadian experience and designation, wont have a big problem to come back to canadian work force later on.
Timon
ps: Botswana has the highest % of HIV positives in the world(I guess, no sure though)

Dear CD's,
I saw an Advertisement in Naukri in India 6 months ago and applied for it. It was put by the Govt. of Botswana and they were looking for Architects to head/assist the housing department. The final telephonic interview was conducted last night and I was given an appointment order today. I have 7 days to accept or reject the offer.
The offer is as follow :
1. Salary of US$ 2500 (does not say if it is taxable or not)
2. Free house / Free food
3. Free Maid
4. Free car
5. Contract for 2 years with paid airfare to India or Canada every year.
6. Office based in Gaborone
7. Free healthcare in Govt. Hospital
It is a nice offer for me but i donot know the country well. I feel that i should work there for 12 months and then return to Canada and then head to USA/UAE. I will surely go to Botswana if it has Cable TV and if the city is generally safe. As Tiomin said and as i found out, the country is in Diamond trade and that 33% of the population is HIV infected. I have lived in Nigeria for 4 years before and hence i know the situation in those countries. But i belive that if it has some Tamils, i can spend the 12 months there biting my teeth and the income that i save can help me to move faster to USA/UAE.
I am posting this post here in the hope that Timon can answer that question.
Comments appriciated.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
There is lady in my office from Congo. She told that people can do anything to come to Europe or North America. If you have life, future for kids, safety and basic good living standards than you can think to go above.
Think about kids, their education/exposure/living standards (which money can not buy sometime), safety. AIDS and most corrupted system is everywhere in all African countries.
By the way all have own priorities in life so best of luck.
