Thats it. I've packed up my bags and left Canada for good. I waited for 4 years to get my permanent residency - a lot of wasted money and effort.

Canada was my \"dream\" destination - and for the past one year I put in a lot of effort to get a decent job here in Toronto - but unfortunately there is none here - for educated professional that is.

Anyway I'm lucky that I didn't quit my job here in the United States - telecommuting for the time I was in Canada. Now I can't even start to fathom why I would ever want to quit my high paying job to ever come to Canda. Luckily my green card came thru too during this time.

So goodbye Canada - you were just a bad dream.

Bless You & Good Luck !

Congratulations and I would say this is the best decision you've made.

Pray that I would be able to post a similar message in the near future.

Keep us updated.

kercan7478,
If you had a very good job in the US why were you planning to immigrate to canada ?

Canada was my \"dream\" destination - and for the past one year I put in a lot of effort to get a decent job here in Toronto - but unfortunately there is none here - for educated professional that is.

If you could throw some light as to what kind of educational background you are from it will be helpfull for the other prospective immigrants what to expect.

Excellent decision I wud say. The sooner you realize that canada sucks, the better it is for you.

And it was wise of you not to quit your job in the US, I've seen and met many people who do that and regret later on.

I'm in the process of kicking this stupid land very soon too. Good luck to you!!

Cheers,
Manjeet

Manjeet,

Dont mind if I do some analysis on what you have said here and in other threads.

There has to be some good reason for generalizing in terms such as "stupid", "sucks", "all of Canada sucks" terms.

I cannot believe a person who has a Job in his/her own field (which is considered a success in Canada and other places) will say that. Same for Sridharm.

Any successful person who goes to extreme to berate a place or person so strongly has to have some good reason. Same with people who are always singing the "why dont you leave" song. This could be dissapointments in other areas of life like personal relationships or Just being not given respect in office (both which have nothing to do with Canada) or something other than immediate material reasons. I know this to be true because human beings try to find scapegoats and escape routes for everthing.

Now I am not saying you have one of such problems. But elementary knowledge of psychology tells us that we dont act to do things without a good reason. I am discounting your being overly good and "letting prospective immigrants know about the Canadian reality" as a reason.

There is a problem with one aspect of Canada. Not all of it.

I personaly dont have a strong like or dislike for Canada or any other place.
I will go wherever I can get work in my field. After that I stop complaining and hopefully stop looking for a job.

I hope you dont take this too personally, and I know you will claim that you are saying it as you see it.

you are right mercury, I do have my own reasons to hate canada. One prime reason is the immigration policy. It is a mass conning game going on there and people don't realize it. Why wud u want to call educated people when all you need is truck drivers and factory workers. i think its conning. People in other countries think that if canada has a planned policy for letting in educated immigrants, then there is a need of such individuals, while in reality we know that its just the opposite. I've met engineers, doctors and Phds driving cabs in downtown Toronto and none of them is doing it by choice. I think it is ridiculous.

yes I do have a job in my field (and as u said its a big thing in canada), but the growth prospects are very grim. And its not just my job, i'm not generalizing this thing, but I've heard it from other people too.

There are a lot of other factors too that i discussed in another thread, I'm sure you have gone through my post there.

But yes, I do admit using harsh words and really appreciate your humble way of bringing it to my notice.

Cheers,
Manjeet
