Hi there,
I am a PR holder living in Canada, holding Indian citizenship as per my Indian passport don't have First & Last name just given name mention as Asim Syed. Actually, It supposed to be First name: Asim and Last name: Syed;
Based on it on my PR has only given name i,e Asim Syed and all remaining Canadian documents such as (driving license, health card, SIN etc) mention only given name (no where first & last name);
I need to correct and change all the documents to be appear as First & Last name; Kindly advise the procedure and approach from where to start?
Regards,
Asim
You have to get your name changed with the Govt. agency:
https://www.ontario.ca/page/change-name-adults
While doing so, mention clearly what and how your first name and last name should be. It's an easy process. Once you receive your name change certificate, just go ahead and submit applications for changing name as you desired (per the name change cert) on all the official documents, i.e. Passports, Driving License, etc.
I had the similar issue where they screwed up my name on the landing document. The above was the easier way out for me legally, which got done in no time.
It is little time consuming process but as mentioned by FB this is the best option you should adopt it.
I did my son's name change here and took almost 3 to 4 months but I received name change certificate from Govt of Canada which is official documents and can work very well with any Govt related issues....i.e. Citizenship, Canadian passport, etc...
All the best....
Thanks for the prompt responses.
Still some confusion do i need to change first on Indian passport? before approach to Govt. agency Service Ontario.
In the form it asks about the current birth certificate/passport where in my case the Indian passport has only given name and there is no first & last name and the same has mention on my landing paper without first & last name based on my Indian passport.
or without changing on Indian passport, can directly change with Govt agency Service Ontario folks will they accept the changes? Please advise.

Be careful when you book Air line tickets , your first name and last name has to exactly match your passport.
For airline tickets or elsewhere usually
First Name = Given Name = Given Name (s)
Last Name = Surname
Some passports even have a Middle Name making it even more confusing.
