Now I have the citizenship card, can I visit USA without canadian passport? My visitor visa to USA would expire by next month. I spoke to my coworker about this, and was told that they checked his ID only, no passport. Is this correct?

It is always better to have your Canadian Passport. US Immigration Officers are very unpredictable. One of my friend sent back from the border because he did not carry his Canadian Passport, whereas when I went to the US last month they did not check even my driver’s license. Now you have 2 extreme examples in front of you … now you decide on your own.

i was going to usa yesterday and they turn me back and asked me to come with pay stubs letter of employment and utility bills plus financail ability (bank statments) last year when i was holding a PR i had a five years visa and was no problem at the border, now with a canadian passport they denied my entery....what is happening.......any one has same experiance....please advice

It seems it is dependent upon their mood. absolutely arbitrary.

So, are you planning o go back with all the required documents.

Just a thought that you should have some of what he requested with you all the time especially if you are visiting USA. Who knows where you might be stopped and asked questions.

hI, Jhon , I wonder if you were turned back when you were driving to the US or taking bus, did you use your passport or only citizehship card. did they stamp your passport or made any remarks on the computer. I knowsome officers are very unresonable from the US side. In general, canadian officers are much better. So this is why i do not like the americans. also what did you say to the officer regarding your purpose of the visit, also did you showed your old passport with US visas to them. hope you can reply.thanks. good luck for you next time, by the way, which port of entry did you use?
