Hello All,
i have good benfit plan with my company and my 2 year old kid in included in it.Now that medication is free under OHIP for kids does that mean that i don't need to use my company coverage anymore for my kid?or is it that....if I have a coverage than govt forces me to use it? Please explain

Dental care, Eye care like prescription glasses won't be covered by OHIP. Even some other special stuff like orthopedic shoes, physiotherapy,occupational therapy,braces etc are generally not fully covered by OHIP, not that your 2 year old will need it.
Usually the kid & spouse are included for a nominal price under your company coverage. So even if you remove your kid from your company benefit plan, you won't really save much, so might as well keep him.
Only prescription medications will be covered for kids effective Jan 2018. You will need your employment insurance for Dental and Optometrist services. BUt on the other hand kids under 18 who have no coverage under their parents insurance are provided once a year dental care and eye care as well.
