Hi New Guy...
The word NRI is not applicable for GULF based indian,
The indian govt never came for the rescue of Gulf based indians.
I hope you are well aware of the every day Gulf papers stories saying so many indian in ver ybad shape.
Also no one cares the gulf based NRI's contribution.
I in this regard Canda based indians situation is better..
It is very shame to say above things...
The govt. attitude only favors Noth american Indians...

Hi to all...
This thread is getting more and more confusing ..... keeping track of ideas and discussions is getting more and more tedious ...
On one side we have someone based in Dubai giving views on immigrants in a third country ( but then that is what we call freedom of speech and thought )
On the other hand there is someone who obviously very excited about getting THE citizenship and wants to share the sentiment
yet on another sub-thread we have someone trying to achieve cheap advertisement

New guy - I strongly object the word 'Traitor' and of course you came back with an explanation.
As Skywalker rightly pointed out that we are not touching core question.
I also like to differ with Cmanyam on Govt attitude towards Gulf residents, though NRIs here do have more problems compared to other parts of world( I assume , I have not seen life there).
Whether we take up job and move to another country or migrate, hoping better futre, we ( Sorry for taking all into with out permission) love our country, we try to do good and we always pray that it should excel in all fields and become role model for all countries.

Guess what the New Guy wants to object to is the criticism of Canada by Canadain residents..... which seems to be putting "would-be immigrants" in two minds ........ sir jee why don't you take this as information to new comers..... a lot of immigrants come over to rude awakenings and surprises which noone had enlightened them of prior to taking the flight.
As per your choice of word "Traitor" ..... I would give you the benefit of the fact that english is not your first language ....
Yes there are alot who use the Canadaian citizenship as an alternative means of bailing out when or if they face trouble in their own country of origin. Let's get real ....... why not.
Have'nt you ever heard people in Dubai cursing that sandbank. criticism is a form of venting .....

Nationalism like Religion is becoming the bane of the modern world.
I hope it has a shorter life than religion.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Hi folks,
It is said that it takes courage to uproot yourself from familiar surroundings and loved ones and to plant yourself in a foreign land. This act itself sets a migrant apart from the rest of the community. Migrants have always contributed a lot to country that they have settled in. An example is Canada's neighbour the United States, which is a country of migrants and probably responsible for the power it wields today.
As far as loyalty is concerned, a migrant cannot be said to be disloyal to his country. A migrant in fact contributes a lot to both his country of origin and the country of his residence. It is said that approxomately one-third of the forex reserves in India are contributions from NRIs.
I live in the UAE and UAE is a country that has literally transformed itself from a desert wasteland to lush green cities and nobody can dispute the fact that NRIs have played a major role in it's development. At the same time surveys here have shown that millions of dollars are repatriated every day to India from UAE (the largest outflow of expatriate money to a country).
If anybody is in search of UTOPIA by migrating, he is living in a fool's paradise. The truth is there is no UTOPIA on this earth. A migrant should be prepared for unpleasant surprises along with the pleasant ones in the new country. A migrant who is willinging to change and merge with his surrounding will flourish. I believe keeping a positive frame of mind is very important.
I have lived in various parts of India and now have spent seven years in UAE and will be migrating to Canada soon. I draw a pretty good salary here. If I were to ask the opinion of my relatives, most of the response would like "You are crazy to leave such a good job...". But yet I have decided to migrate. Why you may ask? Because I have heard similar answers before and I am determined to make it in my new country!!
For those of my dejected friends in Canada, a suggestion, when times are hard on you, try giving help to people who are in worse condition than you are without expecting anything in return and you may be pleasantly surprised as to how your own condition improves along with it. This is an advice my mother gave me and has worked for me well
My Land of Dreams
There is a land of mist and seas
A land where I may rest at ease
A land where solitude is found
where there is music in every sound
A land where I may rest at will
where all is gentle calm and still
A land where violence has no place
where all things are full of gentle grace
A land where peace still does reign
where there lurks no grief or pain
It exists but in my dreams i know
Yet I seek it where ever I go
