hello all,
i would like to know if i am not anymore indian citizen, and want to go for this offer of Overseas Citizen, what are my benefits other than not having to go for visa every time, if i am correct. Please advise.

bhavna,
See my post under public services. There is not much of a difference between PIO card and overseas citizenship certificate. It's good to have a PIO card so that u dont have to go for visa. U can get all the benefits such as owning properties etc. Drawback is u cant vote, u cant contest election, u cant hold govt jobs in India.

pratickm,
Not all NRIs are foreign citizens. There are Indians who have been in Canada for more than 10 yrs and still hold Indian passport. So u think they are not Indians? They are Indians but residing outside India (NRIs). They have the same rights as Indians in India.

I was referring to the dual citizenship olicy that the Indian Govt. is currently implementing.

There shouldn't be any provisions for them voting, running for public office or applying for govt. jobs.
