I just got a note from CGI Toronto as follows:
Quote:
Hello !
The elections in India are over and the new government is in position. We are now expecting the Rules regarding the Dual Citizenship Act to be tabled in Parliament and then be sent to us. Those interested could possibly visit the Consulate-General website : we will definitely publicise the steps there.
....
With best wishes

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
I'm expecting my Canadian citizenship by end of this year, hope the dual stuff comes thru by then.

Are you there?
i guess when that happens, the backlog for citizenship applications will increase from 8 months to several years!!!!

Deal With Reality or Reality Will Deal With You
A little uneducated about this. Would this mean that if the Dual Cit. law is passed, a person wanting to travel to India on Cdn passport will not need indian visa?

HB
I think it goes like this; you can keep both passports, and use your indian passport to travel to india, so no need of a visa.

Even before the dual citizenship procedures come into practice, those with canadian passports can still aviod need of indian visa if they take the PIO ( persons of indian origin) card. PIO cards are bieng issured by CGIs at many lovations including Toronto.
