How do immigration officials keep track on PR status

I mean how do they keep track as to when and for how many days you had left the country based on PR card. Do they ask you to swipe the card when you leave or re-enter the country.

I think I got my answer from a previous thread. They do not keep track through the PR card, the onus is the individual to count the no of days for citizenship.

Don't know about Citizenship, but I've read on another forum that it's upto you to prove to a CIC officer at your port of entry (if you are a PR) that you have not crossed your limit of 3 years out of Canada. If they are satisfied, they will let you in.
