Dear CD'S,
I've see lots of negative remarks about Canada. This is not good for future immigrants. Let me share some good positive point about Canada. Positive image about Canada. Well my exp was different in Canada. I did my schooling in England and worked in Europe for 4 years before moving to California. Then moved to Canada and landed in a good job in 2 weeks time. I worked all over canada as it was 75% travelling job. Now for the last 6 years working in both US and Canada and travelling all over the place. My wife is an Architect and she landed a job with http://www.fluor.com." rel="nofollow">LINK Well she did her masters in NY and worked in US for 2 years. Now she works for Flour both in US and Canada. I prefer Canada over US. Thats my personal choice. I know lot's of CD'S dont accept my point or my views. For your info i work as Resource Manager (Corporate and Consulting Recruitment) in IT and Engineering industry. My advice to all CD'S is work smart not hard. Do your home work well and sure you'll get what you want in life.
Thanks,
Anand16
In terms of money, I wouldnt have earned in India, what I am getting right now. In India, I was getting 10 lacs+ p.a., and it might have taken additional 10 years to reach 35 lacs+ p.a.
About the dollar game, here is my equation
$ 9.75 (within 3 months) --> $18 (in 5 months) --> $30 (in 7 months) --> $40 (10 months) --> $45 (20 months)
So I guess, it is working out fine for me. Rt now, I am 33. I got educated in India. Worked in India, USA, SA, Europe, Canada. Immigrated to Canada exactly two years ago, with family. Landed jobless. Hopes were crushed to the bottom. Full of frustration and negative thoughts for almost three initial months. Then first step - I cut off from leg-pulling community I was in, and started taking decisions on my own, with detailed home-work. Got into different fields which I never liked to work in. And guess what, If I get into my actual profession, I know, people are earning $100+ per hour... but well, I am not aiming that rt now. But I know, that day is not far away. btw, if any recruiter is looking at this, and got a commensurate job, I will send you my resume.
Start a thread on negative points about Canada, you will find lot of points, I could contribute.
Well then, no place is heaven. We make our own fate, with laser-focussed direction.
Good Luck to all.
Hi thinkingone

Could you highlight in what skills you were working in all this jobs that you mentioned in the dollar game? It seems you are an IT Guy.
Hi All,

Thanks IBCD and prabhub for the kind words.
Yes, I am in IT. But even IT guys know, the road is not so easy.
More about me: I have MTech from India. Total 10 years IT industry experience. Worked in different business and technology domains. In IT, I dont have vertical experience. However, I am good at software development, configuration management, testing, databases. My current specialization is in Software Testing.
prabhub: I made a few promises to myself i.e. 1. Total cut-off with any leg-puller within own community or negative sentiments spreader. 2. Detailed home-work on my own. 3. I wont get into Taxi or other factory jobs.
For your additional information, first job was telemarketing job in a call center. Second and third were teaching jobs in local college. And then after 10 months, I could get into industry, and it is working out great.
During my non-employment phase, whenever I used to hear people with 30k job etc, it used to create frustration (some jealousy too) within me. People with 60k job were just too high to reach. So while earning good money now, I remember my tough days very clearly. In fact, I am happy to come to Canada, which gave me opportunities and ability to think clearly, and infused much needed humility in me, and is shaping me as a good advisor with helpful nature. As a project manager in India, I used to be very arrogant.
I avoid getting into success details, which are more than mentioned.. because people have mindset to pick up things suiting their needs (pick up the rosy picture with lots of money etc), and ignore the real depressing moments and struggle. Something which works for me, may not work for other as an individual.
More questions are welcome... I know that s not the intention of this thread though.
