Hi,
I got a letter from CIC to have a Canadian English Proficiency test for immigration. I had already given them proof that i had graduated from diploma course at one of the college and had all my work experiences in english too but then also they told me to have the test done. Anyways i dont mind to give the test which will on july 16 at UBC but my question they told me take CELPIP or IELTS what is yr opinion on which one is better?? also i would like to know how can i prepare for this test. How long it takes to get the results back as everything as to be done in 120 days. please help me out here... thanks

Hi,

I dont know about CELPIP...but IELTS is very easy. U shud be takign General Training module for immigration purposes. Results are out within 15 days.

Exam is quite easy. well it also depens on ur current proficiency level. However i have rarely heard people getting less than 7 in IELTS. Make sure u get 7 in each section to qualify for 16 points. U can give anytime between 5 to 10 days for preparation. But i would suggest u to go through the sample tests which are on IELTS website.

Also its quite normal that CIC ask for IELTS scores despite giving them sufficient evidence abt ur proficiency.

Thanks buddy for the reply. I had applied for PR in may and got my file no 2 days back with no query as they only thing they asked was to give the english test as per the dates i will giving my end of this month but that will not delay my file right?? even i have to send my bank letter along with my graudation diploma certificate which i will get my june 17 so how can i send them or should i wait until they ask me for the bank letter for available funds ...thanks
