bandoayan seems to exhibit nothing but ignorance and bias. Why would he expect to get a drivers license immediately upon arrival at Pearson International airport? He may not like it, or agree - even when we strict licensing and road rules, people have collisions and accidents because of their carelessless and lack of respect for the law.
Just imagine what would happen if everyone who lands here, got his drivers license in a jiffy? That would be a joke and this would be like another south asian country like... (whatever comes to your mind).
As a matter of fact.. there is no evidence that the progressive licensing system in canada reduces accidents. It is a convoluted system that adds more 'red-tape' than anything.. and perhaps it is more about keeping the money flowing so that the government can spend it on a $1 billion gun registry program and the likes.

Here all the time I was thinking that it was about difficulties we face due to some non-harmonised Canadian Rules. 
On a serious note I think that old and archaic rules change only when people discuss and voice their opinion about them. Though for the present it may seem pointless, it generates a public opinion. In a democracy public opinion is the king.
After all Rules are only subsidiary legislation. Someone sitting in an office brings out a circular and that is the rule from that day onwards.
Also discussion keeps this site up running, unlike a large number of other sites which are dying a slow death.
Driving Licence has nothing to do: they want u to wait for 12 months! and pay rents: and bills: so if there is 2Lakh people every year coming and waiting for 12 months and paying rents it is good Money: waiting in a hope to make licence: Tha's how they make money: $$$$$$

I don't think many of us here are gonna agree on that one...spending money on needs is being foolish. Pleople make money and spend it as per their needs, thats how it works. Its a civilized society...remember?..
On a serious note, I think the G1 G2 rule is not really needed and is a pain for new driver (both immigrants and the citizens). Most people don't complain because they have never seen any other option.
Take it or leave it thing sucks as much as anything can. Sudesh Singh might be taking it all and being happy about it, but 'normal' people would voice their concern if they don't like anything.
Have you ever thought about the fact that you cannot immigrate to US on your own as you can to \"Canada\".The comparison has no meaning..

These two countries are different though very close in many aspects...
I like the US. But,had to choose Canada ...So, I am staying and started liking it..Driving license is a trivial matter. You are not refused Driver's license. They are laying down conditions. That is all.
I am just wondering whether there is any forum among USA Desis' finding fault with every rule in the USA?
