Dear fellow canadiandesis,
Namaskar !
I just dont understand why this word "dalit" gets tagged whenever a "dalit" is involved. Does that make the crime more serious? or is it that "non dalits" have no place in Indian society, and it is ok to commit attrocities against them (though these may not be so common)?
This one is for sthiru18...........

Yes it makes a lot of difference when a dalit is involved coz for centuries they have been used abused and mistreated in every way and we keep thinking that all that happened because they did not have anybody to stand up for them or that our country did not have enouch educated people. The system has given them the inferiority complex so deep down that it will take them another couple centuries to come out of it.
So you are telling me that if Phoolan was either a brahmin or a thakur she would have still had to go throu what she had to and then get shot in the end like that. Ridiculous as it sounds its pretty true.

TAMIL KURAVAN,
These kinds of news you don't see happening everywhere, everyday. It only happens with certain groups & people. It is the' lack of education', which I am sure you know what I mean.

now wait for someone saying that this happens due to 'Indian culture' or lack of it. How come the actions of criminals are allowed to define what 'culture' is?
Wow!!!!! I do not think due to Indian culture. Probable "indian criminal culture" guy had little bit merci in heart he is still alive. Think about north American "civilized criminal culture with gun...........and no merci..." no 2nd chance.........

canadian808,
i am not in favour of oppression of dalits but it is one side of the coin. dalits enjoy a special protection. in government offices in india if a dalit employee does not perform his office work the senior cannot dare to call for explanation as dalit will revert back by saying that the officer is making certain remarks regarding his caste . then situation will become more embarassing for the officer and he could be booked under certain sections of those special acts.

I read the story. Now couple of points. There is a systematic conspiracy by certain sections of Indian (Including leftist) to malign the nation and Hindu religion. Rediff is notorious for this kind of news. Nowhere the reporter has tried to verify the story by at least trying to contact so called perpetrators/ police or some other witnesses. I do not know how much credence to give to this account of the reporter of Rediff.
Also this Tamil id guy has tried to malign India. The story does not suggest that Paswan was attacked just becuase he was Dalit. Any body who is familiar with Bihar politics and cime scene would vouch that Lalu has destroyed law and order and now Dalit are committing atrocities on so called upper caste Hindus. Bihar mafia has driven away all eductaed guys from Bihar and Dalit are quite militant in rural areas where they enjoy much more numerical strength. In fact Naxalites/ Leftist are very active and I have my doubts whether this inciden was because Paswan was "Dalit"
It is apparent from subsequent posts by this Tamil id guy that he is trying to malign India. He should read about Shahbuddin, the Mafia lord of Bihar and Laloo's right hand man and atrocities committed by them on Hindus (especially so called upper caste).
Please note that for a moment also I am not trying to justify what happened to Paswan. If indeed, it was caste related then our heads should hang in shame. Nor I try to imply that Dalits are not oppressed . But the point is that I am making is that under the present Socio - political condition prevailing in Bihar, I have my own doubts about any Dalit being given such treatment in a village (Which are dominated by Dalits and supported by NAxalite) where they are numerically and politically much more stonger.
