Iam sorry but I dont understand being what benefits I will get if Iam a citizen of canada?Visa exemption for few countries thats it.Finally if I feel this is not a place where i want to comeback whats the use and in addition to that i would be putting in 5 years. Its a quite a long time.i have seen many people who cannot go back home because they have lost the ground there in these 5 yrs.People say its good for KIDS...iam just single..why should i sacrifice my life just for the sake KIDS life is going to better..and i dont believe that also that KIDS have better life here, half of the kids dont do even bachelor's degree here and even if they do diploma they take thier own time because even without education they earn 11$ per hr and they r happy with that.In india without education ur gone so atleast for the fear of that kids do education, because of competition they do education.I feel Canada or any other western country is worst for KIDS.Regarding moving to Middle east...why would I go to middle east...??i mean why ppl allways think outside india? Why western passport..by doing these things we ourselves are degrading us...we are degrading the INDIAN PASSPORT..and this is the reason ppl in west/middleeast try to exploit...why not be king in your own jungle rather than be a mouse in some body else's jungle

Evolution my friend is a time bound process which changes your peception .. what appeared right at one time .. becomes wrong later ..

For eg ...... if you were to get a better job in a month's time ... your perception and decision might change ... some times decisions is haste are regretted later.

In the end , you make your own decisions ... and what you decide should suit your self .

Try to be a king wherever you are .. in your jungle or some one else's ...... I do agree some what to the fact that English skills are rated high in India ... ( ppl start looking up to you since most are not English conversant ) .. but in Canada , even beggars and janitors are expected to fluent in English .... You have to weigh this in as well ....

Hi Vivek,
I advise you to move back since you didn't live here too long. I am living here since 3 years every day thinking to move back and I am thinking of moving back, once I get citizenship, as I am eligible to get it now. I lost my parents, while I am here and I am feeling bad for it every day.
This is my opinion and you can better decide your self.

Wishful thinking....

This is only if you are not comfortable in India and want to come back - otherwise I would not consider it as a concrete advantage - especially considering what you are losing (4 yrs doing odd jobs)

2. You learn a lot here as well .. on the job and off it ........ better morals / values / traffic sense / civic sense .. just to name a few ... they make you a better human being where ever you go .... this is an asset .

-- You can learn it in India as well, especially while working for a multinational firm. The corporate culture there is exactly like the corporate western culture.

3. Western experience is recognized for the above point wherever you go .... you find plumbers from the UK in the ME working as Sanitation Engineers :) .

-- That's exactly what I spoke about earlier but ONLY if you have it. When I talk about western experience I do not mean western odd job experience!

4. Try to gather a diploma / degree from here which can add feathers to your resume ... This will benefit you immensely when you return back home as education from abroad is valued .

-- Sorry, western graduation is valued only if accompanied by concrete western (professional experience).

5. Chances are that in these 3-4 years , you may not stay in odd jobs , get to a better job , evolve with time and be in a better position to decide .

-- You are talking about chances - what are the chances? I have seen people working in call centers for more than 5 years, and still doing the same thing.

6. Your parents would not stay with you forever ... but your immediate family will ... much longer and you do have your responsibility towards them as well ...

-- If you return to India, then you will get both! :-)

7. If you ever decide to move to the Middle East ( I feel the same of other places as well ) a Western Passport places you in a different negotiating position all together .

-- How many people think about moving to the middle east and actually do? When your family grows, moving across the continents becomes tough (read: impossible). Also, middle east values western (professional) work experience ( or you become a cabbie/laborer)

To me , getting a Canadian citizenship is a win win situation . You can always decide upon your future course of action thereafter .

-- well said, when you said "To me". But I do not consider it a win-win situation for everybody - it depends on case by case basis. For the OP, I do not think I consider it as a win-win situation.

Vivek:
What everyone else here has posted has a lot of merit. I think its wise to consider all sides of the coin before making the decision to move back to India.

Its normal that you will be nostalgic, homesick, frustrated etc. However I am sure most people do go through this to some degree, some more than others.

At the end of the day, you will have to live with whatever decision you make. I think clean air and health is very important. if you feel better out here it may be a factor, but it might not be.

Last: Ontario is not the only place in Canada. Perhaps Toronto isnt your thing? There are many cities and areas to settle in that have something unique to offer.

If I’m in your position, I will surely go back.

50K is good enough if you have own apartment in Mumbai. Furthermore, you can live with your parents, friends and relatives.
I am giving you a true example and hope that its not happened with everyone.
I have seen one person in Walmart working as a Cashier. Then I recognised him that he was sr.manager in one company that I have left long back in India. I was in other department but met 2-3 times for some work in his cabin. I felt that he was egoist and never asked us to sit.

I took his picture in my cell and I forwarded to my old friend who is still working in that company, said see the manager is working as a cashier here. My friend replied that he is now DGM and went to Canada but not resigned from the company yet and expecting to coming back. My friend spread that picture in the company and guesses what. After few days I got a msg that DGM has resigned. I understand what was happened.

Sometimes I realised that I made a mistake but what to do now.

The reason to tell this story is when some people are highly qualified and good position at the back home has to do back rather doing odd jobs like this. Otherwise sometimes happened like Dhobi ka Kutta.

Hope this helps.

Cheers..........
