BTW Sai,

I am knowing one civil engineer with chartered accountant wife coming here maybe 5 years ago. He first coming, he working labour job, but his wife getting OK job as customer service rep in financial co.She then writing exam here and now working in high paying job and her husband also good job having now as engineer after working as labourer on construction site for 1 + years. First he hating Canada, now he calling it 'amchi Canada' and both now buying homes for parents in India with down payments. They tolding first their parents living in rented 'houses' in India as per squatting rights and now they having own 'homes'.
First he hating Canada too much now he saying India bekaar, Canada is great being.

Both also from Mumbai being. Both very gutsy. Actually lady having 'eye of the tiger' more than man, but man also ekdum determined.

Chal, determination bhi lao aple saath, hero.

Crenshaw,

1. I have not said that Canada has the highest tax in the world. I have said "among the highest".

2. Regarding income tax at a job & if one forms a company, I say this from my interaction with various people in Canada & a few friends of mine who have done both & have the options of both.

I could be wrong. I am not the authority on this.

I have no problems with being corrected if I am wrong.

Rgds.

Rajan.

definately canada is much better place to live....

That depends on several other circumstances. It would not be a "better" place for someone who ends up without a job.

and dont listen to the pessimistic desi's here....it is your confidence you should trust.....a pessimistic guy would always give u negative energy here....so avoid reading their views..best of luck.....

It has nothing to do with optimism or pessimism. What is applicable for one may not be applicable for another. Had this person been older and well settled and doing well in his profession I would have advised hi against coming here. That would be pragmatism, not pessimism.

Hey
This is THE CRUX of the matter. If you are older and well settled in your profession, certainly you should not chase Canadian dream but it is obvious from you post that it is not the case with you. So depending on your temper, you should take decision. While I know some guys who got settled within very short time, I know many others who are still struggling after 4-5 years. Just to give example, I know a CD who is quite dynamic. He came to Canada, struggled for couple of months and the quit labor job. He started calling top executives of the banks in Canada and used to tell them that I am top financial manager from India (which he was) and I want to see you for 10 minutes. One of the top bank executives agreed to see him for 15 minutes and the meeting lasted for 45 minutes. Though he was not offered a job immediately, after 3 months she called him and offered a suitable opening and now he is serving there since last 3 years. So you have to be very innovative and convincing. Also accent is very important, at least in top firms as communication is all they look for. I understand that there are many coaching classes in India who teach North American accent. Do take those classes before landing. It will help you immensely when you face interview. Some one wrote that Indian degrees are worthless which apparently are. But do not get disheartened. We all know that India education standard are extremely good and when time comes for requalifying in Canada , you will be able to sail through easily.

Dear Friends,

First of all Thanks for all ur replies and clarifications. I am glad to have so much response and guidance from canadian desi bhais.

I am still on two minds to come up there. No probs from my side , me toh as u all know am happy bachelor. Parents ko maska lagaana hai. And u know they will be like Beta get married and then take ur wife along. ( Saalaa nako lafda apunko).

But I will convince them once I make up my mind and appply for becoming CD like U. Baki dost log I am ready to take on the adventure lets see whether it turns out to be a happy or a sad one. Being spiritual apun toh believe karta hai law of karma pay. Whatever happens has to happen.

Toh chahay to sarkar bana do ya fir fakir hi sahi.

Now thoda Indian Gyan. for those who r interested

From ur mails I understand that taxes r somewhat high in Cananda. What I wish to share here is that friends presently they r ditto in India. Infact in the last budger Mr. Chidambaram has imposed a new fringe benefit tax ( sales executives ki vaat lag gayi) secondly taxes also on telephone expenses of corporates. Income tax exemptions have been decreased only certain savings and investments can now help working class people to save tax. Apart from this Excise, VAT and octroi make upto 50% of any product cost.

Guys petrol & diesel prices have touched ceilings. There are car companys making record sales ( thanks to car finance- installment jindabad ) but the wonder is saalaa public is blindly filling fuel tanks using credit cards.

Friends the so called booming India ( BSE ( stock exchange) touching 8000 ) is actually sitting on a time bomb. Yaar trust me I am not pessimistic about it ( apun toh spiritual hai , pura positive , blood group be B +ve). My collegues have almost 15 credit cards ( credit card company are issuing cards to every Tom, Dick & Harry) and this collegue is top to bottom filled in installments and has severe lapses in them.

People think India is financially booming , but the truth is the financial institutions like ICICI, Citi Group , HSBC, HDFC are blindly issuing loans and are facing major risk. IT boom is only because of IT exports. Hope USA does not wake up some day and impose a sanction. ( We have already gone against their advice of not building a Gas Pipeline Project between India & Iran passing thru Pakistan). I wonder Pakistan must be so happy, anyday there is a lafda they can turn off our gas valves.

Baki will keep u posting if u guys r interested in discussing this also.

love all,

sai.
