Massood,

This is a question from me :)

We got citizenship test now. (Almost 12 months from the date of application) Unfortunately my wife and kids are going to India and they will not be here on test date. When we made travel plan, I already called the number and let know know about it. The lady operator said me that she did put notes on the file for that one. I got the test even after letting them know about it.

What should I do now?

I can call the number and let them know about the travel plan and ask them to reschedule it after they return. I heard that if you do this, they are delaying the file too much. The call center number is too busy and if you are lucky than you will get a chance to speak to an operator one out of 200 times. May be I can send them a letter with the travel plan.

Alternatively my wife can skip the test and they might call her for an interview on any other date, which should be ok.

I will be taking the test anyways. As we applied as a family, I hope they allow me to take the test alone.

Your advise please.

Thanks.

Garvo
Pretty much same happened in my wife's case.
She was away to India when the letter arrived with very short notice so she had to skip it.
Took them quite a few months before they arranged an interview with a Judge,........essentially it was the same test again with a brief discussion with Judge.
Yes the whole process will be severely delayed. Try getting an alternate date if possible

Thanks CPM for sharing your experience.

How much it was delayed? 3-4 months?

Yes something like 4-6 months. At times it seemed like eternity because they said that this time she will get really short notice, like 2 weeks blah blah and you just have to wait and wait...
But in the end they basically wait for enough people who are in similar boat and then plug them with a regular session.

Sorry Garvo:

I didn't reply earlier. In any case, CPM is correct and you are better off getting a new date. It'll definitely be delayed by 3-4 months.

The main reason I didn't answer is because these days I tend to only look at the Immigration Expert section. Comes down to time factor.

Constantly checking different sections of this broad forum for questions is very time consuming.

You would have noted that I only answer in the IMMIGRATION EXPERT section now.

I hope you understand.
