Thanks a lot Maple_asian. To get the TN visa at an indian consulate , is it the same procedure like a H1B visa for an indian national. Wait period of 3 months or so to get an appointment.
Or the dual citizens will have a seperate queue. If I take dual citizenship on which passport do I need to travel. Indian or Canadian.
Can someone please clarify.
I am not sure how long the wait would be. First of all, India does not have dual citizenship. You will have to surrender your Indian passport to get a Canadian passport. And obviously since you plan to get a TN Visa, you would travel on a Canadian passport otherwise how would you get a TN visa in the first place?
Please see links below. Per those links, my understanding is that as a Canadian citizen, you could enter US without a stamped visa even if you are on TN non-immigrant status. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.
General link for Cdn Citizens wishing to enter US:

This link provides details of Canadian citizens that need stamped visas:

As far as queues are concerned, US consulates don't give a damn what passport(s) you hold. Everybody goes through the same slaughter line. US citizens, however, get priority handling and treatment at the consulates.

Yes I think you are wrong. Though I am not sure, I would tend to believe the post by maple_asian earlier where he/she says that if entering the US from outside the western hemisphere(I would take that to mean Canada/Mexico for the best part) you need a visa stamped.
The link that you had mentioned saying that if you are a citizen you don't need a visa to enter the US mentions this in the very first line -> see the sentence -
"Ordinarily, Canadian citizens require neither a passport nor a visa to enter the United States directly from Canada."
As you can see it mentions "directly from Canada"
While the second link does not explicitly mention this, I think once you are not entering the US from Canada, nothing is really sure. So I believe it would be safer to find out from the US consulate.. before hand or just call the US Border Security for that Port of entry.
|If you are a Canadian citizen and are entering the US from a 3rd country purely on a VISITOR basis, then you do not need a visa stamp in your passport. I have done this many times (entering the US via the San Juan, PR airport coming from the caribbean).
