In this forum we are mostly immigrants from south asia. so that i can say our mentality and thinking are similart to each other. We are trying lot for get decent job. some of my friends are get success and mostly doing fight with the daily life. hope everybody will get success today or tomorrow..Anyway..I would like to do business in toronto but i dont have any idea about this. any one can help me to give some idea about business. I able to invest very little amount total $10,000 to $20,000 and want to get return 10-20% per month on investment. any one can tell me what type of business is suitable for me?

with that kind of money - you might want to consider a grocery corner store. there are some available that the owners want to sell because they are retiring. a small coffee shop in a busy building town town. I am not so familiar with toronto. but had a friend in MInneapolis who had a coffee shop and took in drycleaning clothes which he just passed on to drycleaning place else where. this guy makes so much money. but his shop was in a big office building -downtown. so all the ppl would find it convenient to grab acookie or drop off their clothes without having to drive elsewhere .look in the news apaper ther are companies that are like realestate agents who find you a business. make sure you have your own CA to look up the books and check the lease on the property. it should not be expiring soon. make sure you talk to the landowner - thet he is willing to give you a lease on the shop.
GOOD LUCK on your new venture. - remember small businesses are hard to run a lot of work and they dont always bring in the big bucks but they give you freedom and mostly are run by families as a whole.

Another good one is : Malls have small Kiosks : you could sell somthing there : but make sure you can have a lot of vartiety : you need to have constant change ;

A restaurant these days bring in a lot of money + the over heads are so low. But remember to have delicacies for the area in which you cater to.
for eg., if it is near a school, so many school children will come over during their recess period and you have to have delicacies that cater to them.
You could also try garment import business / granite/ marble business if you have the right and appropriate contacts...
Venturing into Penny stocks only can give you more returns that you had asked for but without prudent knowledge, i would say that one will have 99 % chance of losing money and so i would not at all advise that.

10,000 to 20,000 is not very much to start these days. for any import business you need close to half a million. coz the turn arround is slow as time to bring in product is at least 8 to 12 weeks.

I guess in 10k or 20 k is not that much amount to start business.But if you have convenient store experiance then you can try for Hasty Market,Mac's or Daisy mart franchiesee.

I would truly stay away from franchises. they take all the money you have. and you end up working for nothing. unless you have a tim hortons. but they ask for 1/2 mill for the franchise.

When you start a business you should have survival money for at least a yr. or if your spouse has a good job. have you thought about a gas station. they put up evrything. all you do is manage it.
