I was not trying to justify anything.
I am a tamilian and i would feel very embarssed if i went out with my parents or child and see the people dressed up in a very obscene way (luckily none of the above mentioned family members are with me in Canada). This is all that i expressed. What is wrong in that. if it offends any Canadians let them cover up or bring some ice on the streets in the summer.
In India , i think that these obscene films are shown in an enclosed theatre and you pay to see this. Here it is a free show. I Canot even go out with my senior Tamil friends b'cos people are dressed in a very skimpy way. It embarasses me only in front of other tamil friends.
Even in my office some European females are dressed in a very obscene way but i donot care since i am alone.
My original point was that you could be embarrssed if you are in Canada in summer and you go out with your parents and or children. I should have added and you are a tamilian. my mistake . Sorry.
TK

I'd like to have other Tamilian's views before taking your words as gospel. I understand there are other Tamilians on this site. What do they think?

Define Obscene?? When I go out : whether to work, or around the malls etc, I rarely see people that are obscenely dressed.

Unless they are all in TO :p

"Bring some ice on the streets in the summer"

please clarify?

IF others dress skimpily why does it embarrass you?

I guess I dont see where u are coming from

In TN ...blah lah and as per tamil culture blah blah.......

Folks I really wonder what you guys must be thinking about Tamilnadu and tamilians especially people people like who were born there........

YOu must be thinking its like Saudi or something.........please I am a tamilian with some exposure about TN, India and the western culture and we are quite normal .......

TK talk for yourself kindly dont generalise about tamil culture and tamilians...this is almost a plea:cry:

MR,
Let other Tamils speak up. Already one very mature and upright tamil is no longer posting in this board. I would have considered his opinion on this as being set in stone (for tamils only)
"Bring some ice means" : if you are too warm in summer and need to be skimply dressed, bring lots of ice from the artic and cover Canada. This will lower the temp. and then you can be fully dressed.
Being skimpily dressed does NOT embarass me when i am alone but only when i am with others ( tamils and non tamils). Almost all tamils that i have been with have condemned the skimpy dresses saying that this was not a good scene for their children and/ or parents to see.
Again i state, i donot care if Canadians will be skimpily dressed b'cos the Canadian law allows it and i respect that. My point is only that Tamils would be embarressed if they see all this with their family members. This is life in Canada. We have to either get on with it or get out.
TK
Sidenote : One tamil family that i know (whose wife does not call her husban's name in Canada) have 2 children and are looking to go to India within 2 or 3 years for this reason + the low education in Canada + schools having no discipline. This is just their view told to me and is not set in Stone. They have formed the view and want to leave Canada soon and i respect that.

TK Who or what gives you the right to talk for all tamilians or tamil culture... do you think that by just being a tamilian you have all the right to keep saying " I speak for all tamilians" Why are you putting yourself on a pedestal for this community :cuss:

MR I think by this time you can make out that all about Tamil.blah ..culture ...is crap...Maybe one day you could visit us and see for yourself. welcome you as my guest.

I am proud of my roots but all the above has nothing to do with culture here only with specific people be it Indian / canadian or whatever. btw I was born in Chennai and have been living here for the past 30 yrs give or take a few years in north India and Abroad.
