How long does the Embassy keep my wife's passport for?

PLease kindly help me with this.
The CIC in Lima Peru have asked for my wife's passport saying that the application is ok and this was the last thing they need to finalize my wife's case.
It's been 6 weeks since then and we didn't heard anything.

What's the time frame to get the passport with visa back?
