hi i'm new to toronto.live in downtown .would like to know where are the nearest tamil stores for grocery, dvd, video casettes, magazines, restaurents all in the same street.thankyou
Boomu,
If you have a car, come to Dundas St. and Hwy 10 in Mississauga (Take Gardiner from Downtown and exit at Hurontario Street-which is Hwy. 10 and travel north), which has very good Tamil grocery stores and CD/VCD/Video rental and Magazines. The shop name is Kaveri Supermarket which is a Pure tamil store. The Owner is from Karaikudi and hence you get authentic Tamil stuff here. He even has Beetal leafs in this store. His employees however are Sri Lankan Tamils.
OTOH, You have good Tamil (Sri lankan) grocery stores at Scarborough. They are scattered all around that place. I am not sure if there is an authentic Tamil grocery store in Scarborough.
Gerrard Street is mostly North Indian area and hence you will not have Tamil Grocery store/Movie stores in that area. There is a Udupi restaurant in Gerrard Street.
Welcome to Toronto.
