My wife and I got PR 2 yrs back at that time after marriage her surname/ familyname was not changed and so she is still having her old family name on the passport, now the passport is expiring and I have to get it renewed from within Canada :
1.Should I apply for the name change in the new Indian passport
2.Will it affect her 10 years multientry visit visa of USA, as if surname is changed in new passport the visa would have diffrent familyname !
3.Should I get the family name changed in the PR card also after getting it changed in the renewed passport, am I allowed to do that.
I would request Massood ji or any competent person (legally) to answer the querries
Thank You
I posted my problem thinking somebody would come forward and help me , but am so disappointed by the forum and Mr.Masood.
Anyway good luck to you all.
IMO, this doesn't require an expert like Massood to answer.
Your wife doesn't have to change her last name in the passport or PR card unless she wants to. Just an entry in the passport stating that she is married to you should be sufficient.
In my case, we didn't bother to change my wife's last name in the passport, and so in all her records here, including her driver's license, work, health coverage etc., she has her maiden name. She was able to travel to the US on a dependent visa (when I was on work permit in US) with her maiden name as well. We're fine with it.
