Hi, I need to get Australian National Police certificate (NPC) which is required or Canadian PR application.

I was in Australia in 2009 and it was my old passport without surname in it at that time. Now, should I give my naming details as it was in my passport for NPC? or include my surname as well?

I'm planning to get my passport renewed to include my surname.

Any suggestion?

Regards
Satish

Hi all,

I'm simplifying below question:

I just wanted to know for getting Australia NPC, whether I should use my name as in passport as ID proof? as my passport doesn't have surname in it

I had this passport during my Australian experience.

First I will give you my take on the situation. Beneath that you will see the links and FAQ. Read it well and then print out the forms and fill them out rough and see what all you will need to complete it fully and completely.

You know where you lived in AZ. See if there are any friends of yours who are still hanging out there. See if they can devote a full day for you and with your requirements. If so, you can be rest assured you will get it done in a hurry and quickly. Otherwise it will be a long and drawn out battle with letters running back and forth. Some times we do not have much of a choice.

While you lived there, if you went under a name, with a Passport and a Driver`s License with the same name, you must do the search for a police clearance under that name AND not with a new and altered name or with a surname etc., So, get your old IDs and PPs and make a few photo copies, preferably in colour. Get them Notarized.

The last known costs are. : From their web site, in AZ dollars. :
National Police Certificates costs $62.75. There are no discounts or concessions available. Note: Cheques will not be accepted.

NOW here are the links. :

http://www.police.wa.gov.au/Ourservices/InformationAccess/NationalPoliceCertificates/FAQs/tabid/1346/Default.aspx

All of these need to be done for all of the locations where you lived for 12 months, for each location. I know it is painful. May be your friends can smooth things out.

FH.

Thank you very much FH for the detailed guildline.

At NPC, I have Passport as Primary document but what secendary document to select?
Listed below.

I have Australian tax notice and assessment when I was in Australia.
Could you please suggest what (Indian) document should i use?
Can I use Canadian Health card or SIN (Govt issued)?

Taking a cursory look at the SECONDARY documents, I think they will accept your Drivers Permit from Canada, get it photo copied in colour. Also your OHIP Card from Ontario Government, or any card that will provide your date of birth in it and any Utility bills that you get at the current location should do. I hope all of the documents you will submit will be worded and written in English.

Just a question to you...Is there anyone in Australia who you can call and seek help from them. The time difference being 12-14 hours, I find it difficult to provide you with proper guidance. I would have called them and verified to make sure that the application that you will be filling in, is complete and meets with their requirements.

Hi One last question: I was in process of filling the NPC application online...needed below clarifications

Purpose type: I have selected 1)
1) Commonwealth purpose / Employment
2) Working in Austrailan Capital Terriotry(ACT)

Purpose of check: among several options which one of below to choose?
1) Pre employment / Standard disclosure
2) overseas emplyment/visa - for supply to country other then Australia

CICI Canada needs: Standard Disclosure – name check
and also CIC website mentions us to enter Code Number 35 in section 1 (Purpose of NPC). but i didn't find this option at Australian NPC online website.

Please suggest.
