Hi,
I had a small query regarding the OHIP and the health card.
I have gone through all the information available on the Internet about OHIP.
Following are the conditions for availing facilities under OHIP:
- Three months waiting period (in Toronto)
- Minimum period of 183 days stay in the province
My specific questions:
- Can I be outside the country / during the 3 month waiting period? Will I still get the coverage when I return?
- How do they keep track of the minimum residence of 183 days? If I come back after 3 months will I still be eligible for the same?
Please note that I am not trying to 'Beat the System'. I am just looking up to Senior Desis to help me understand the fine print.
Please note: I have not landed, but I hope to land in Jan. I will permanently move only after 6 months.
Regards
V.
You cannot be outside the country during the 3 months waiting period.
They keep track of 183 days presence by auditing you and asking for your passport to look at entry/departure stamps and proof of rent/utilities etc.
