Happy new year
I just missed the boxing day 24.99 bell phone @ future shop
does anyone knows about low cost prepaid cell phone option for any cell phone carrier except the monthly charge like wnd or mobile city

Hi,

I used a service called "Speakout"- its sold at 711 stores. Its got a few good things which appealed to me when i was new to Canada:

1. No monthly fee.
2. All airtime was valid for 1 year. Any unused airtime was carried over too.
3. For $ 100 airtime, you get a Nokia cellphone, albeit pretty basic, free. The $ 100 is valid for 1 year. There are cheaper plans too.

The Speakabout service piggybacks on Rogers so coverage is exceptional. For the several years that i used it till passing both phones to friends now, never had any issue with it. Highly recommend it.
