Anyway, I would welcome further views from CD's (if any).

That is the problem you know - TK is afraid of being watched and that is why a 28k salary with no one watching the philanthropic/community and entertainment work that he does is totally acceptable to him. You call that exploitation by the employer?????

In my opinion, TK has been the one milking the employer all these years - and doing a great job out of it. I would not mind getting 28 k for all the extra time I get to do what I want at company's expense!

What a worthless advise Chandresh. No wonder noone responded you here. The best option for this poor chap is to find another good job, which he may soon with the help of a good experience in his pockets and leave. Simple!!! No puns intended, but why do you want to assume things you don't know, huh???

And how do you ASS U ME that I am assuming and do not know??? If you are new to the board, please spend a few months in reading TKs post (it will take you a few months I am sure) and you will know that he used to spend so much of office time in writing posts on CD (most of them extremly entertaining though! quite a few of them really sic too) that he was banned from writing more than one post in four hours!

And now I would advise - and it is meant for you - please don't assume things specially when you are commenting on a post by moderators who have spent hours and days and months and now years on the development of this site and the community help they have provided over these years!

Dear CD's,
I wish to thank people who have written in support of me and also who have PM'ed their support to me. I wish to tell them that i am overwelhmed by their kindness.
With respect to my OP, I have one more question to add :
My office has a very big client by the name "XYZ Home Constructions" , one of the largest home builders in Canada. (Please PM me if you want to know the name. Over the 5 years that i have worked in my office, I deal with the Project manager of this office (an Italian) directly and I sort of work independently without my boss being involved. I do home grading plans and my boss charges $270 for one grading plan + expenses like courier, copying extra. I can do 2 grading plan normally a day. I have been in situations where i have done 3 or 4 grading plans in an 8 hour period.
My Calculation indicate that My boss invoices (2 nos X $270 X 20 days)= $10800 in an ideal situation.
My question is : Can i talk directly with this PM to ask him if he will employ me directly in his company for $50K or $60K a year? Unfortuantely, they donot have a grading plan specilist (that is me) on their payrolls. Since they are a big company, they have 5 or 6 design firms working for them and I expect that they give such grading plan works to other design firms too.
The only problem that i see if that if it takes an Italian angle and if the PM talks to the Boss talk about my proposal. Can my Boss file a lawsuit against me if he finds out? I have not signed any contract documents from my side for any employment restrictions on my current job.
I request some comments from CD's if my idea will work.

TK,

I sometimes wonder if there is a forum called DesiItaliano where your boss posts such silly stuff as well. :D I can't imagine you being with him for so many years if not.

Essentially, the question is "I've been with an employer for 5 years who pays me 28k and I know is billing me to clients at about 150 bucks an hour (inserted in another post). What should I do?

I'mean c'mon buddy! If you really need to ask people about this, I'd very strongly recommend staying with the 28k job.

Dear CD's,
This happened over the weekend with my boss !
My boss called me to his office on Saturday and told me that since the new architect was no good in making drawings, he said that i should take what he was doing and do it my self. He also told me that from now on, I would be responsible for giving him very small jobs which he could do. His salary is 32K and mine is 28K.
I guess my boss did not know that I knew how much he was paid. WHen he said this to me , he was all very serious and spoke as if he was speaking in good faith. I will be looking for an appropriate time in which i will teach him a lesson.
