I am looking at a return flight by Emirates - Toronto - NY - Dubai - Bombay.
The halts at NY and Dubai are about 2 hours each. The rate is in the C$1100 range.

What do you think of this flight?

Any return flight via USA involves double Immigration and Customs. The American officers are happy to see Canadian Passport. The issue is - you have to collect your luggage and re-check it. While it is not a big hassle, but it is annoying. Also JFK airport receives lot of desi passengers with lot of desi stuff, which is not allowed, for example any food grains or milk made sweets.

The custom officers at JFK are in many cases opening the bags and forcing to throw away stuff from your bag. Also the domestic flights on the JFK are of lower priority and ATC may delay them, so be ready for that.

Another issue is security. Any flight going to US has to pass thru tight security. You have to face that at Dubai airport.

Dubai airport is quite good and you should not have any issue passing time there.

Also how much Toronto-Dubai-Bombay costs? If the difference is marginal I would go for that.

try them since, they gave ticket during emergency $1300 toronto-dubai-bombay in Jan 1st week thro Emirates airlines.It was promotional ticket and no refund but can extend the date of return. I shall post tel no. if you are interested.

I booked a Toronto- Abu Dhabi - Mumbai ticket for $995 on Etihad two months back on Etihad for March11.Only the flight to from Toronto to Abu Dhabi is 12 hours.
