I have a Citibank NRI account and use it infrequently. I found the service more personalized and better than ICICI NRI accounts. I have a dedicated personal manager in Toronto for any questions / forms etc. But if you have to call the Toll Free number, its the same case as any other bank ...
All in all, I am pretty happy with it considering the limited choices that we have. On the flip side, their exchange rates are very bad. But, you can open an account with them and use money2india or remit2india to transfer money into the Citibank NRE/NRO accounts
Let me know if you need any other info.
True that Citibank does not charge an outright commision for remittances ; however, their exchange rates are poor (at least 1Re less for 1 CAD) compared to money2india / remit2india. So, they are more than making up for the "no commission".
Any body knows In what state the bank is , and how safe are the deposit.
I understand in India they are only insured for Rs.100,000.
Any comments of safety of deposit if bank goes down ...?
Kesho in Canada deposits of upto 100 K $ are insured by CDIC ..
