Hello All,

I am applying for my baby's passport who was born in October this year. We are planning to travel to India in Dec or Jan. We have applied for her birth registration but it will take 16 weeks, so I got a "Travel Letter" from city hall for passport application. When I went in to apply for passport at hamilton office, they asked for a proof of travel as the passport would be for limited period. I am not sure what proof of travel would work. They said copy of air ticket, but how could I book a ticket before I get a visa and for visa I need a passport.

So I am in a loop situation here. I need suggestion from you all. Has anyone faced a similar problem? If yes, then what proof did you submit to get this temp passport?

Also, do you have any idea whether we have to apply only one month before traveling or it can apply earlier?

Please suggest. Your information willbe very important to us.

Thanks in advance,

Gigs

Hello contact_mahajan,

Travel Agents do Book a seat on payment of travel costs.
They will tell you prior to booking that it is subject to having a Passport or a travel Document for each of the travellers.
They will also tell you that the tickets are NON REFUNDABLE, upon payment.
The Infant seat is at a fractional cost, it occupies a Bethenette, a wall mounted COT.
After procuring the seat or the tickets, produce the two that is needed.
Some of the Credit Card Companies will provide you with missed flight insurance too. If the baby is sick or has minor ailment, etc., it covers the costs.
All you will need to do is get a Doctors Note. Talk to your Doctor first about the precdicament when you meet him the next time.
The Passport Offices have XPRESS Service for you at an additional cost. I am making this information known to you and use the same at the time of applying for the travel Document.
Also tell them that you will be using this document for a Visa processing with the Indian Consulate and you need some additional time for that process too. Put all of this in writing and submit it at the wicket. with your payment. Some one has to sign and collect when it is dispatched to the address. Ask them if it is possible to collect the same at their offices under these circumstances. They also do that.

Everythiing will fall in place. You have ample time to spare.

You are all set to go now. It is a load off your shoulders.

Bon Voyage and a safe trip.

Freddie.

Your infant will only be 2-3 months old when you plan to travel. It is a very risky affair for such small baby to travel, unless it is an emergency. I am sure you must have read about a recent tragedy with an Indian couple travelling to UK with an infant. Please weigh your priorities and decide.

All the best.

It is prudent to wait until the infant is atleast 6 months before air travel. By that time, the second round of immunizations is done (done at 3/6/12 months)

Hi, I agree with others. If it is not an emergency please avoid the travel for the baby. On the other hand the purchase of a ticket surprises me, don't buy ticket, a valid itinerary will do (don't know why they asked for proof of travel). We arranged visas for our kids on the basis of itineraries, every one knows tickets can't be bought before a visa or passport is in hand.
