I know a couple senior engineer and his wife (also engineer) left great job in Alberta (much much better than $23 per hour) to be with his mother and family in India.

Just look at your own life (say 10 or 20 years ago depending on your age) - you had less money, much smaller house, you might have used a moped or a motorbike (or even a bicycle) but were happier in your struggles and those low paying jobs. Sometimes you wonder how you could manage within such a small salary. Those were the happy days!

I was stunned by his decision that how can one kick such a good job and go back but now i think he is right. you can earn a living here but not life what do u think guys???????????

I think there are lots of cultural, financial, religious and social reasons for that.

One thing I need to state though. Just be cause ONE Indian citizen is moving back to India, does NOT mean that India is a better place to live than Canada. Born and raised in Europe, and a Canadian immigrant, having seen the hygienic conditions prevailing in India, lawlessness of the country, trading with human organs, and state of women rights, I would not come to the slightest thought of moving there. But that's only because I cherish and appreciate European values, which are very close to Canadian values. I am not an Indian, hence I don't judge his decision. He did what he thought was best for him at that time. Whether it was a good decision or bad, remains to be seen.

I don't think that $23/hr is a "such a good job"...a max of mere 38,000 a year. That's an average low-middle class salary.

I maintain that Canada is the best place to live, geo-strategically well positioned, politically neutral, no threats of war, with lots of natural resources, civilized society built on mutual respect and tolerance, low crime rate and effective and fair judicial system. Canadians are welcome everywhere, in the US, in Europe, in Australia, and in South America.

This may sounds as a "purple" descriptions to others, but I believe in it, and so far, Canada has offered me all the benefits of a peaceful life.

Apples and oranges..why compare..one decides what one wants to follow - the mind or the heart..so as long as one is convinced as to what one wants he/she will be able to live well with the decision.

Happiness Always

Kunato,

$23 per hour is what many immigrants will never earn at all even if they stay for their lifetime in Canada. $38,000 per year is what many couples earn.

Most of them earn about $8 to $15 per hour.

Rajan.
