I heard that there are no Stupid questions, and I hope someone will agree with me.......

My question is:

Is it ok to use a van to go for the G license road test.

I know most use a car - but is there a law against using a minivan for a g test?

What are the pro's and cons of using one?

Also, which are the places where passing the g test is comparitively easy?

Thanks

You can use Van.. there is no restriction against van... Depends on how comfortable you are. Main thing to watch out is, are you able to keep the right distance from curb while turning, keeping the vehicle at center of the lane etc. If you normally use a car and suddenly take a van, which is bigger in size, u may not be able to control the distances as well. If you normally use van, it shouldn't be an issue.

My 2 cents: Drive test here is costly... if they fail you, u will need to pay again for the re-test. Better to get one of the driving instructors - there are many who gives 1 class + test for $100 or so. The official will also feel you took learning classes etc. and may be more comfortable + the instructor would have taken you through the normal test routine. So you will know what to expect.

Hi viggy,

Would you or any of my fellow CANADIAN DESI's know of driving instructors,
who take candidates for g tests outside of the GTA?

Thanks!

It is Ok to take a van for G test. However if you feel that you are more comfortable in a car and if you donot get a cheap instructior, then you may look at the posibility of renting a car. You get cheap deals on Weekdays. All my friends in the US use this method only. Somehow it has not caught up in Canada.
Hope this helps.

As always, another one of TK's invaluable inputs !
Keep it up !

On another note, how come you haven't responded to the query about Design Management courses in Canada ?

Geeting back to the initial question, if you are planning to rent, how about renting a Smart car for the test, to make all parking problems vanish alltogether ?
Has anyone ever done that ?

I don't have the numbers in hand, but if u r in Mississauga, check out the cart stand of the desi veg shop by Dundas and Hurontorio. I saw a few listings there. Other grocery shops also may have...
