A turban isnt going to protect you in a sawmill. Why does the sikh community cry 'unfair' at every little thing? Its like they have to just protest... how is expecting people to wear a hard hat - discriminatory!?? its to save their life!
I work for WCB. I see first hand how Sawmill Injuries have affected my workers. These men have worked at the sawmill for YEARS...and one is off on a disability. Now the company is cracking down on safety... and suddenly the uproar.
Religious rights do not supercede safety.

Did Navjot Sidhu or any other sikh cricketer go out to bat without a helmet when facing fast bowling.. They all accomodate by using the smaller turban so that they can wear the helmet.
When we immigrate to a foreign countries we need to make effort to blend in and not stand out and annoy ppl around.. When i say blend in I dont mean by taking off turbans.. but i mean not raising such uncalled for controvercies..
Hopefully we immigrants will start to realize that before resentment starts to creep in..
We need practical people like morning_rain and inknownothing who won't put religion before safety and hopefully you can turnaround more people in the community being a part of the community.
