Please apply for a travel document and put a RUSH on it. You only have four days of stay to your credit in your first stay, You need this travel document in a hurry and you will have to obtain it before the 29th of June this year to re-enter Canada and establish a 730 days stay within the first five year duration. You need all of the days that you can get to qualify for extending the next PR card.
Have your bags packed and ready and "anything that you want to take with you to Canada" send it ahead of your departure, if you have a place where you can collect and store.
Get a head start, You have no time to spare.
Freddie.
Freddie,
How do I put a RUSH on it.As per their web site it take 10 business days to get my passport back.
as per my calculation I have time up to June 25 to enter in to Canada.Correct me if my calculation is wrong.
Please advise.
MS.
It takes a minimum of thirty days to process the application for a travel document.
Currently you are in a very good position to get the same a little faster. For this you will have to book a VALID plane ticket that will be GOOD for travel just over the 30 day period. Say after, about 33 days or so. After obtaining the plane ticket send the details of the ticket and a photocopy of the same with as much information that you can submit to the Canadian High Commission. Such as the copy of credit card payment, and since you drive a copy of the car rental arrangement in Canada for the date of arrival coinciding with the time of arrival at that airport that you will be landing and any other details that you can think. (Such as hotel reservation etc., which you can obtain now) along with your application. It should provide you with a priority. Please enclose a covering letter explaining this. Please enclose all of this together with the application and the fifty dollar fee and also a Prepaid courier envelope. (All of these expenses that you are currently going to incur will be a lot cheaper than what you might have to go through, if you do not take proper steps NOW)
Good Luck.
Freddie.
Side Note: After you land, apply for a PR card at the very first opportunity that you get. Or have it ready and courier it upon landing. Freddie.
Well, here is final notes on my case.
I have just mailed the Travel document via USPS express mail (Over night) with prepaid express envelope (over night ) to the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles this morning (before checking the updates on this thread!!).
According to thier LA web site it takes atleast 10 to 15 days to process.
I have enclosed the following documents with the Travel document application form .
-Passport
-Record of Landing / Confirmation of Permanent Resident document (Issued to me when I became PR on 06/25/05)
-one photograph
-$50/- processing Fee
-Copy of the document checklist.
(I have not enclosed any Airline ticket as I have no plans to fly in to Canada)
If everything goes well as calculted/expected I should be getting my PP by 15th of May'08 and I will hit the road ( 5 North ) on June 6th.
I don't dare to think negative at this point.
I am crossing my fingers.
Wish me Good Luck.
