With credit card it can be converted to 3 years. 3 years is good enough to write off a laptop. Open to any other deals too that surface during back to school.

Thanks again Fido.

G13,
Check your PM.

Did some shopping early morning :

Bought this product at Future shop :

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/gateway-gateway-15-6-amd-e-350-processor-laptop-nv51b02h-black-nv51b02h/10171793.aspx?path=7e2a216a7e94a93be1352030bd84be33en02

and price matched with this :

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/gateway-gateway-15-6-laptop-featuring-amd-e-350-processor-nv51b02h-black-nv51b02h/10171793.aspx?path=a86076ae9627ed8d513a1c8557d5323ben02

Total savings : $220.01.

Might need to go into store early to get the PM, before FS drops the prices to $299.97

Even without the price match is not a bad deal (IMO)...just that it is AMD processor. OK for kids to mess around with.

Thanks Hiren for sharing this. It is indeed a good deal. Hope others have benefited from this thread.

For now, I'll live with my 99$ touchpad, it lets you surf, chat, skype (videochat), play games (e.g. angry birds, oh, how much I love this game), email, run a photo slide show, use it as a camera for non-serious photography, offers mobility, run weather / time / map / traffic apps, alarm clock, read ebooks, watch movies, listen to songs, radio, and last but not least use facebook. It really exceeds all my requirements.

For those who are thinking Ipad, IMO, yes though it is the best, it is not worth paying the price of the apple brand name, almost all tablets do the same thing. Who cares about 350,000 apps on ipad, most of us won't use more than 30 apps.. My friend spent 950$ on the highest end Ipad and it really doesn't offer much more, at least for me. He is now very jealous :-).

With the HP fire sale and demand, I hope other manufacturers learn a lesson and reduce the prices of tablets and capture larger market shares..200-250$ per device or so.

Agree with G13, No need to become Apple Fool !!! My samsung galaxy on android gives me as much features as much my wife's iphone gives but with much lesser cost.

I wish I had knowledge abt HP 99$ touchpad opportunity, missed it , waiting for the next one ...:plfft:

I didn't know it either. Sale was on Aug 19 and pretty much sold out same day. I came to know of the offer on Aug 21st. :-( I ordered one from HP.ca on Aug 21st, haven't heard from them since then, am still hoping that the order gets fulfilled..

For some reason Tiger Direct was able to offer 300 units on Aug 30th and I was lucky to grab one (sold out in 15 minutes).
