HI !
OCI is a travel document issued by Indian consulate and simultaneously they stick a permanent visa sticker on your Canadian PP ..
Hence to avail OCI , you must have Can PP

Visa expiry has no relation to passport expiry..
U just need to carry ur expired passport with ur current passport.
I am doing the same for my 10 yr US visitor visa stamp on my expired Indian passport.

only thing which i can't understand...if indian govt will give us travel document/or different kinds of OCI-passport
than why they need to put visa sticker on canadian passport...as it is unconvenient, becuase canadian passport expires every 5 years.

There is NO money making, what makes you think so? They do not charge extra for that visa sticker.
Also, there is no "OCI Passport". It is a travel document that has to be carried along with your Cdn passport. Just like you carry your cdn PR card with your Indian passport.

My good friend ...... Indian government wants to make sure that you go back to your country when you are done in India. how do you propose to come back to Canada if you don't have a canadian passport?
They want you " connected" to India ........ but you are not a full citizen of India.
