Canadian government has scrapped the existing points system in favor of a points system that is more tailored to the current needs of the Canadian economy. To qualify for an immigrant visa under the new system you have to get a minimum of 75 points. The points are awarded for education (max 25 points) , experience (max 25 points) , adaptability (max 25 points) , relatives (max 25 points). The points scale is described below...
1. Education. (max 25)
Enough knowledge of driving to get license in Ontario - 10 points.
Spoken Canadian English - 10 points
Spoken Cantonese/Mandarin - 5 points.
2. Experience. (max 25)
Bottom of the social ladder for most of life , will not mind being treated the same way - 5 points
Bad childhood in dysfunctional family (will never sponsor dad/mom/brother/sister) - 5 points.
Been beaten into submission to authority , will never think of opposing anything! - 5 points
Hard physical labor for at least 5 years immediately preceding application - 5 points
Lived in cramped unheated apartments for most of life , will consider Toronto apartments heavenly in comparison - 5 points.
3. Adaptability (max 25 points)
Worked in Middle East and have HUGE pile of cash - 7 points.
From Hong Kong and have HUGE pile of cash - 8 points.
Graduate/post-graduate directly from India with minimum 10 points under Experience - 1 point.
H1-B refugee from US seeking temporary asylum until new H1-B/GreenCard - 6 points
H1-B refugee from US seeking to become Canadian citizen and taking next flight back to US on TN1 visa - 10 points
4. Relatives. (max 25 points)
Not married / no living relatives - 25 points.
Rich father-in-law ready to send money to make his daughter's life happy in Canada - 15 points
Wife is a good telemarketer/department store cashier/maid/babysitter - 10 points
Mom / dad / mother-in-law/ father-in-law all dead - 10 points
