Hi all...I am planning to buy a used HD Projection TV. There are several brands available like Samsung, Toshiba, Panasonic and so on...is there something specific I need to check while buying it? How about the performance of projection TV's?

Please give some inputs.

Rear projection TV's is a dying breed . Major brands like Sony, Panasonic, Hitachi, Toshiba and Philips out of the rear projection TV market,
Unless you are very tight on budget , I would highly recommend not to buy rear projection TV . The main reasons are:
1. Bulky
2. Picture of quality is not superior as compare to LCD/LED.
3. Cost effective : You have to keep changing a Bulb ( very costly ) after watching TV for a certain no. of hours .
Hope this helps a little.

I would not prefer to buy projection TV in today’s market there is other better solutions available

Also AswaniG mentioned its Bulky and very costly to replacement lamp typically costs at least $100-200.

I am assuming you want big screen with low budget therefore you chose HD projection TV

It’s better to go with LCD/Plasma (if budget is the issues then go with major stores who offers monthly payment scheme)

Thanks for the inputs. I was not aware of replacing the bulb after specific number of hours. Of course, if this is the case, it is no worth to go for the projection TV.
