I took a look in BestBuy and Futureshop. There is Logitech, Creative, Microsoft., etc. A bit confusing. Any suggestions for a good webcam?

I would bounce the ball back in your court ...
It depends on your Use.
I have Microsoft Webcam, one that fits on the Laptop Lid. Nothing fancy. It solves the purpose with good Quality.

This is slightly off the point, but I have a Logitech Quickcam 8.3.0. was working fine till one day when I disconnected all the connections in my computer. When I reconnected all the cords again and tried to start the web cam I got an error that the camera is not connected to the USB. I tried troubleshooting and got a warning that the software is not certified by windows and hence any troubleshooting may make the system unstable. i am stuck. i do not know what went wrong. The camera was working fine till I disconnected the cords.
Any ideas?
dont know why it would stop working if all you did was remove the cords.
Did you upgrade your OS too?
Anyway...try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your webcam. A quick search came up with this.

Yes, try to reinstall the driver.
Did you connect it back into same USB Port? I know if you don't then some devices wants you to reinstall the driver.
If you are not sure, try using all USB Ports - Shutdown before each move (its microsoft).

DIO, any of those brands should do fine. A webcam is a pretty basic piece of hardware nowadays. Most cams have a frame rate of 30fps (check for that) or more. I don't think there's anything else to look for.
Budget it at $40 or less; you don't need the extra features that the brands need to sell. Canada Computers might give you cheaper cams than FutureShop.
I need to take one to desh to install there and have one here also (same brand). That's the plan. Some of the cameras I saw mentioned abt snap shot, 1.3 M pixels, etc.
(my hightech hardware knowledge is like greek and latin)
