^ what about canadian desis who are not from India? can they not come/bring their contributions?

also, a two hour drive would be kinda long for people with lil kids no? :( i'd imagine kids get restless.

what about July 1 - Canada Day?

Some more thoughts , correct me if i am wrong or if you feel differently

Food : getting own food is a great idea it can be like a big potluck but if the number of families joining is more than say 20 then we might need something more elaborate with a caterer. even better --- i figured that there is a potential caterer in our group ... they can be the best volunteer and meeting is the best time to collect names and announce method of collecting money , interested member can mail their chaques to the catering volunteer directly . That is why is is important to please for all those interested in joining please give their names now. So that the size of the group can be assesses. :announce:

Spot : Any spot which most members agree by is good. 1000 islands is great but since many members are from GTA and may not find it suitable to drive with small kids , no cars etc ... then think about Toronto islands,or something in Toronto like Biomeds recomendation ...

PROS- Toronto islands is out side the city yet within 45 minutes for most GTA residents....the ferry (10 minute ride) is just a short walk from union station...those coming by car park by the ferry ( i think it is $8 parking on weekends) i can offer free visitors parking to 10 cars in my building which is right by the ferry. The islands have an amusement park, water (of course) , plenty of space for cricket and bbq....and views ke kya kehne ...approachable to all by subway and by car , no need to hire a bus despite the strength of the group, bus ki jagah ferry hogi for group travel and fun together ($3 ride)
CONS- it is not convenient for those outside GTA, Jake and those from outside will kill me for proposing this:smash:
( ameen sayani ki awaaz main )
gaane bajane aur sustane ka poora intezaam hai ...
To bhaiyon behnon ...toronto islands ko apna kimti vote deke safal banayen :D aur picnic ka anand uthayen :announce:

Date : 1st july is thursday so i wonder how many would be keen for it ...lets stick to saturdays in June , unless members decide otherwise ...13th June is fine by me too

Program : Whatever you guys decide for the picnic , a cricket match with tennis ball would be a good sport item .

What do you say folks ?

( biomed - I am sorry yaar:cry: , I maynot be able to make it to the meeting ...i am working this weekend as well:huh: ....kaale kaale baadal mandara rahe hain mere weekend plans ke oopar .!!:h )

Moderator saheb : Can we please get a small section where those interested can keep adding there names to the list of those interested in a picnic.

So lets start the list

- I am in .. Samir ( 1 person coming alone )

Hi All
It seems like the picnic issue has been discussed for long-lets get started- how about June 27th (a Sunday) to Wosaka beach. Lets all drive in our own cars and carry food and drinks(soft drinks and juices) for 6-10 people and paper plates cups and spoons and display all food together in a common joint and eat , play games, have fun and get back, lets fix up a time for 9.00-10.00 am, is that ok? suggestions please, sometimes short planning helps, long planning leads to lot of ideas but seldom materialise-lets get started friends
Please post your suggestions

Sounds goods to me .... Wosaka beach , Sunday 27th June am.

for those needing a ride , i can bring 3 people with me.

We will have to know about the number of people interested to coordinate food and drinks, i'd suggest BBQ as well .

So lets start folks , please post your response on who all are interested and once we have a feel of the size of the group we will coordinate our efforts for food, drinks , games.

The picnic ball is rolling folks ...lets not make it stop this time .
