Social Services Network in collaboration with Internationally Educated
Social Work Professionals Bridging Program, Ryerson University is organizing
a meeting for employed, underemployed, and/or unemployed *Internationally
Educated Social Work Professionals (IESWs) *living or working in York
Region. This is a first step that may lead to the creation of an IESW
network in York Region, as well as to subsequent outreach to employers in
the social service sector, with the ultimate goal of reducing individual and
systemic barriers faced by IESWs in their search for suitable employment.
*Objectives of the First Meeting*
To create an opportunity for:
- IESWs living or working in York Region to meet each other and to
reduce the sense of isolation that some may be experiencing
- IESWs to share successes, challenges, obstacles, opportunities,
strategies related to seeking/gaining employment in the social service
sector
- IESWs to learn about resources/programs/services that might be of
assistance to them
*When: Saturday, June 26, 2010, *11am-2pm
