Incidentally when you apply, ask for a B1/B2 visa that is for visiting and business and not only for B1.

hey Kapil,

I spent a fortune talking to the them. It doesnt make any sense. If you are staying here in Toronto or GTA then you can't apply in Ottawa.

I have my appt lined up for June 10th. The going is the same for B1/B2.

The appts would go up by another two to three weeks very soon.

Tough luck buddy with so many people using this route. But plan to take a multiple entry visa - valid for 10 years so that you do not have to repeat the exercise every time.

Try booking your appointment on line using the internet. You won't spend a fortune. And see if they stop you from booking one in Ottawa if you live in Toronto. I don't think they will. No harm giving it a try...at least it doesn't cost you anything,

Hi Friends !

I managed to get a appointment for 11 th may but origionally it was on june 15th.

you are right, we can apply thru website to other consulate other than toronto but when going there they will not entertain you.

can u advice me what should i take along with me in order to get the visa finally !

I did ask the enquiry on that 900 number that I called up. She said that GTA, toronto and upto Belleville on 401 are covered under Toronto office.

I think if you wish to try Ottawa - then you may have to show proof of residence / work there.

I am a bit cautious when it comes to applying at the USt consulate. A bit of a fuss or a raised eyebrow and you could land been at the receiving end.

i am a PR in toronto, i applied to toronto and i got a earlier appointment in toronto itself, origionally it was on 15 june, i managed to get on may 11

Kya hua bhai...you started this thread and put a question. There have been responses and suggestions but where are you?? IF you have got the appt please let the board know, We will be better educated. And if not what have you tried until now and where do you stand. Will appreciate an update!
