I am also moving to CANADA.

Normally how long it takes for a new immigrant to settle with a proper job?
I heard that opportunity for industrial job is greater in Alberta than Toronto, is it true?

Never, unless you join a university here and get a Canadian Degree.

Hi FJ_Cr
As a new immigrant you have to show atleast 10K CAD just after landing at the airport/ port of entry (if coming alone, with family you will need more).
you should have those funds available after landing so that you can look for a full time decent job in your profession (which may take some time and energy so be prepare to burn your hard savings).
My suggesstion is that after landing once you settle down and done with the initial formalities as a new immigrant you can take any survival job on PART TIME bases(perhaps for couple of days in a week/ evenings), which is relatively easier to find here in AB so that you dont have to burn all your savings quickly and at the same time you will have enough time and energy to find/ apply/ attend interviews etc for a decent job in your field pertaining to your qualifications.
Just remember if you end up doing survival jobs on full time bases, it will be harder to get out of the routine and to find enough time and energy to look for a professional job.
I hope this will help, goodluck.

It depends on your preparedness for job hunting. How you do job search? There are hundreds of websites starting from how to make resume to application to interview techniques. HRDC helps you very much. How fast you cope with them is also importarnt. As a newcomer you have to allocate some time for your family(housing, education, health etc.etc.).
Against all odds if you are fully dedicated with your job search and of course provided with the experience you have I think you have to keep a fund for 6 months and funds for car. so 20-25K is enough.
